The Gathering: A Celebration of the Spirit of Vin Garbutt (11-14 March)

We are delighted to announce the full programme of events for The Gathering: A Celebration of the Spirit of Vin Garbutt, curated by 'The Wild Rover' Mike McGrother in conjunction with Saltburn Community & Arts Association, with the support of Tees Valley Combined Authority. The festival takes place from 11-14 March 2021 and is a mixture of online and physical events celebrating the life, music and legacy of The Teesside Troubadour. Over 40+ contributors from across the globe are appearing throughout the programme and a brand new walking route will also be revealed in Vin's name. You can view the full programme of events and purchase tickets from www.vingarbutt.com/thegathering.

Here is what Event Curator, Mike McGrother has to say about the festival:

"Vin Garbutt was a world-renowned Teesside legend who sadly died in 2017. Greatly loved and respected across the globe, The Gathering : A Celebration of the Spirit of Vin Garbutt is a unique festival that will bring people together to be reminded of the extraordinary life and career of one of our region’s most famous sons in a host of virtual and creative ways!

Whilst we are getting closer, a physical gathering is, of course, still off the agenda but I hope that you can see that the spirit of who Vin was and what he achieved can still be enjoyed in a variety of events.

Saltburn Theatre, which is run by Saltburn Community and Arts Association, was one of Vin’s favourite venues and like so many others across Britain it has struggled during the pandemic. Vin would have been one of the first to find ways to help the team at the venue as they work towards a reopening later this year. This event will go some way to help that cause.

Please do join us by following the individual links to enjoy the different events of the festival and I hope you can spend some time with us as we share the words, the music, the footsteps and the impact of the one and only Teesside Troubadour."
